Lodestar was formed in April 2001, as a Carter Holt Harvey new business venture. This transformation offered the strength of a large multinational and the flexibility of a smaller, responsive specialist team.

Lodestar currently carries approximately 35% of New Zealand's export logs, plus other forestry products, bulk and breakbulk cargoes.

Lodestar operates a modern fleet servicing the major ports of New Zealand, and North and East Asia. We offer a flexible, on demand service that means our ships do not follow a fixed schedule. Services
Lodestar provides efficient management of land-based logistics including access to proprietary positions at ports, port terminal storage, and completion of documentation and procedures. We have Port Coordinators based at the Port of Tauranga, Port Nelson and Northport, Marsden Point.

Using cutting-edge technology to efficiently load ships, promotes quicker turnaround of vessels, and thereby reducing costs.

Lodestar and CHH Pulp and Paper entered into a key Logistics Partnership, commencing 1st April 2004. The scope covers logistics planning and execution from mill gate to customer for the Kinleith/Tasman/Whakatane/Penrose/Fullcircle Mills.
